Applications Now Open for the 2025 Ashiya Learning Support Scholarship
The
Ashiya Learning Support Fund, under the auspices of the Japan Philanthropic Foundation (located in Minato, Tokyo), has officially opened its application process for the 2025 academic year scholarship program. Starting from
July 18, 2025, aspiring students can submit their applications and take a step towards a brighter educational future.
Purpose of the Fund
Established with the vision of addressing educational inequalities arising from differences in home environments that children cannot control, the Ashiya Learning Support Fund seeks to alleviate intergenerational poverty and disparity. The fund provides financial aid to students attending designated junior high schools in Ashiya City who, despite their strong desire to learn, face financial barriers.
The scholarship is available for students from the first year of junior high through the third year of high school, covering a total of
6 years of educational expenses, both inside and outside the school.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the scholarship, students must currently attend one of the following designated junior high schools in Ashiya, Hyogo Prefecture:
- - Shioimi Junior High School
- - Seido Junior High School
- - Yamate Junior High School
Students must meet the following requirements:
- - Must be in the 1st year of junior high school
- - Must have aspirations to attend university and not want to give up various learning opportunities
- - Must meet the income limits based on household size. Below are the financial thresholds:

Scholarship Details
The total scholarship amount over the
6-year period is
3,000,000 JPY.
- - For the 1st year to the 1st year of high school: 450,000 JPY per year
- - For the 2nd year of high school: 550,000 JPY per year
- - For the 3rd year of high school: 650,000 JPY per year
