H World Group Expands Its Presence with New Hotels in Laos
On June 5, 2025, H World Group Limited, a key player in the global hospitality sector, made a significant announcement regarding its expansion into Laos. This debut into the Laotian market is marked by the signing of four hotel management agreements aimed at fostering the company’s international growth strategy and solidifying its presence in Southeast Asia. With the ceremony hosted in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, on May 29, this momentous occasion underlines H World Group's commitment to asset-light and internationalized operations.
The newly planned hotels will be strategically located in Vientiane and the historic city of Luang Prabang, in collaboration with leading investment partners including Lao Kunpeng Industrial Co., Ltd., Yuting Hotel Investment Management Co., Ltd., and KP Construction Sole Co., Ltd. According to Zhu Xiaogang, President of H World Asia Pacific, this initiative represents a crucial step in delivering localized management and establishing a strong regional network. Zhu stated, "We are devoted to enhancing our operational capabilities in Southeast Asia and providing top-tier services throughout the lifecycle of these projects." The infused confidence from the investment partners is seen as a crucial factor in elevating hospitality standards in Laos while enhancing guest experiences.
The four new hotels encompass H World's core upper-midscale and midscale brands, tailored for key locations in Laos' capital and its primary tourist spots:
1. Intercity Hotel Vientiane: This project, co-developed with Lao Kunpeng Industrial Co., Ltd., will be ideally located near Wattay International Airport, providing convenience for travelers. Scheduled to open its doors in early 2026, it promises modern amenities and seamless connectivity for guests.
2. Intercity Hotel Luang Prabang: Set to be established in the historic city center of Luang Prabang, this hotel will also be an investment by Lao Kunpeng Industrial Co., Ltd. Anticipated to begin operations in 2027, it aims to merge local cultural aspects with the brand's signature design elements, thus enriching the visitor experience.
3. JI Hotel Vientiane Mekong Riverside: Developed by Yuting Hotel Investment Management Co., Ltd., this hotel will boast picturesque views along the Mekong River. Expected to launch in early 2026, it will offer guests a unique blend of scenic beauty and accessibility, marking the first JI Hotel in Laos and the second in Southeast Asia, after the JI Hotel Orchard in Singapore.
4. Orange Hotel Vientiane International Airport: Developed by KP Construction Sole Co., Ltd., this establishment is set to be positioned near the airport and the Sanjiang Area, with opening plans for the third quarter of 2026. It marks a significant milestone as the Orange Hotel brand's first appearance outside China.
The enthusiasm from all three investment partners is palpable, as they eagerly anticipate the collaboration. They are optimistic that with H World's operational excellence, solid brand reputation, and advanced digital ecosystem, this venture will uplift the overall hospitality standards in Laos. According to recent statistics from the Laos National Tourism Administration, over 1.97 million international tourists arrived in the country via the China-Laos Railway in 2024, a remarkable threefold increase from the previous year. This data highlights the growing interest from Chinese tourists, who constituted more than 60% of the inbound visitors, establishing China as the leading source of foreign travelers to Laos.
Founded in China, H World Group Limited currently operates several well-regarded hotel brands, including HanTing Hotel, JI Hotel, Crystal Orange Hotel, Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts, and more. In addition, the group holds master franchise rights for various notable brands in the pan-China region. With this substantial expansion into Laos, H World Group is poised to make significant strides in the hospitality industry, promising premium services and enhanced guest experiences across its newly launched establishments.
