Stars Shine Bright at the Celebration of Rescue Gala

On June 12, 2025, the North Shore Animal League America, recognized as the world's largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization, held its inspiring "Celebration of Rescue" Gala. The event took place at the stunning TriBeCa Rooftop, providing guests with breathtaking views of the Lower Manhattan skyline and the Hudson River.

The gala attracted a diverse crowd, including notable figures from New York’s animal-loving community, many of whom have previously adopted pets from the Animal League. At the helm of the evening were event chairperson Beth Stern, a dedicated advocate for animal welfare, alongside her husband, the renowned radio host Howard Stern. They were joined by the charismatic Ginger Zee, host of the evening and ABC News Chief Meteorologist, making for an unforgettable night dedicated to a noble cause.

The evening commenced with a delightful cocktail hour during the picturesque golden hour, where guests mingled and enjoyed a warm atmosphere filled with hope and inspiration. The main program highlighted powerful stories of the compassionate individuals working tirelessly behind the scenes. Their efforts rescue vulnerable animals and support heartwarming adoption stories produced by North Shore Animal League America, showcased by the SVP of Operations, Joanne Yohannan.

Hank Azaria, the evening's entertainment, electrified the audience with an engaging performance alongside The EZ Street Band. Their tribute to Bruce Springsteen was a crowd-pleaser, prompting attendees to dance and sing along in a spirited celebration of love for animals.

Among the evening's highlights was the recognition of those making strides in educational initiatives within the animal welfare community. Teri Ahearn from Shell Bank Middle School in Brooklyn was honored with the Crystal Collar Educators' Award for her exceptional work implementing the Mutt-i-grees™ Curriculum, promoting an understanding of the value of animal companionship among students.

Additionally, Swiffer® received the Crystal Collar Corporate Award for their unwavering support of the Animal League’s mission to save lives of at-risk animals. Various celebrities graced the “blue carpet” while cradling adorable puppies and kittens, including notable figures such as Rachael Ray, John Cusimano, and Liz Gillies, further showcasing the event's delightful blend of charm and responsibility.

With sponsorships from industry leaders including Northwell Health and Fetch Pet Insurance, the event aims to amplify the North Shore Animal League America’s no-kill mission, ensuring the rescue, nurturing, adoption, and education of both animals and potential pet owners continues positively.

This year's gala successfully raised vital funds, solidifying the organization’s mission to enhance animal lives and educate the public on animal welfare issues. At its core, the evening was a powerful reminder of the cruelty faced by many animals and the importance of finding them loving homes.
