AT&T Makes $9.3 Million Investment in Human-I-T to Bridge Connectivity Gap

In a significant move towards achieving digital equity, AT&T has announced a generous contribution of $9.3 million to Human-I-T, a nonprofit organization dedicated to bridging the digital divide in underserved communities across the United States. This funding is a part of a broader partnership that emphasizes both organizations' commitment to providing essential digital resources to those in need.

Since the beginning of their collaboration in 2021, AT&T's support of Human-I-T has nearly reached a remarkable total of $30 million. This financial backing will allow Human-I-T to expand its initiatives, enabling more than 21,000 individuals and families to access affordable internet services, necessary technology, and vital digital literacy resources. The goal is to empower communities by ensuring that everyone has the necessary tools to thrive in today's increasingly digital world.

Gabe Midleton, CEO and Co-Founder of Human-I-T, expressed gratitude for AT&T's ongoing partnership, stating, "AT&T's unwavering commitment to our mission allows us to extend our reach deeper into communities impacted by the digital divide. This substantial financial support amplifies our efforts to provide individuals with the tools they need to succeed, regardless of their economic status or geographical location. Together, we can create real opportunities for growth and success."

The Impact of the Partnership

Since their partnership commenced, over 140,000 individuals have been positively impacted by Human-I-T's initiatives, which include distributing more than 42,800 devices to families in need. However, the assistance extends beyond mere provision of devices; the organization also connects households with affordable internet access and digital training programs. This strategic approach ensures that communities are not only provided with technology but are equipped to engage fully in the digital economy.

Mylayna Albright, Assistant Vice President of Corporate Responsibility at AT&T, elaborated on the importance of digital equity: "We believe that digital equity is foundational to unlocking opportunities and empowering entire communities. Our renewed commitment to Human-I-T underscores our dedication to bridging the connectivity gap and ensuring that thousands more gain access to essential digital tools. Together, we are cultivating an environment where education, employment, and lifelong success can flourish."

Proven Results and Future Goals

To date, Human-I-T has successfully distributed over 523,000 devices and connected more than 110,000 households to the internet while also responsibly diverting over 20 million pounds of electronic waste from landfills. With AT&T's latest contribution, the partnership is set to enhance its efforts even further, aligning with AT&T’s ambitious goal of ensuring that everyone has access to reliable high-speed internet by 2030.

Both organizations believe that access to technology and the internet should be viewed as a basic human right in a world where digital presence is increasingly vital. With their combined resources, AT&T and Human-I-T are paving the way for a future in which every individual, regardless of their socio-economic status, can participate fully in the digital landscape.
