Tackling Workplace Compliance and Corporate Responsibility in the Construction and Real Estate Industry
On July 16, 2025, a workshop specifically tailored for management professionals in the construction and real estate sectors will be held, with a focus on workplace compliance and corporate responsibility. Organized by the Japan Risk Communication Institute (RCIJ), led by Haruko Osugi, this event aims to address the pressing issues of internal risks and ethical standards that the industry faces today.
Context and Significance
In a recent survey conducted by RCIJ in June, nearly half of the participants, 49.7%, reported that the construction and real estate industries have a higher prevalence of harassment compared to other sectors. This staggering figure indicates a growing concern within the industry regarding workplace behaviors.
As instances of workplace violence and harassment are increasingly documented and shared on social media, organizations face the potential of losing public trust due to a single viral post. The visibility of internal risks poses a serious challenge for many corporations, making the need for robust compliance mechanisms essential.
During the workshop, participants will engage in practical exercises that explore the risks associated with various internal issues, such as workplace violence, power harassment, and overwork. Through real-world case studies, attendees will develop actionable skills to address these risks promptly. Besides fostering discussion among participants, the workshop will provide practical templates for implementation within their organizations, moving beyond traditional lectures to offer a transformative learning experience that promotes action.
